Creating a Successful MLM Business

There was a time when Multi-Level Marketing was a dirty word to
many people. It conjured up images of uncle Eddy inviting
neighbors over for dinner only to hound them mercilessly to join
his organization.

The Internet and America's sharp move toward home-based business
has changed much of that. Today MLM companies have huge
operations that rival any of America's large corporations.
Members don't have to bug friends and neighbors because they can
find plenty of opportunity seekers online.

I've watched the MLM industry for years. Lots of people don't
make money at it because--surprise--they don't work very hard to
make their business a success. On the other hand, I know plenty
of folks who worked with determination and were earning six
figures within a few years.

Here are some things to consider when setting up your MLM
business:

1. Consider how much the business will cost you each month. If
one opportunity requires you to buy $50 in product each month
while another wants you to purchase $200 in product, pick the one
you can easily afford month after month.

2. Get into a business that sells consumable products or
services. You want customers who use it up and come back for
more month after month. Repeat product sales is where the big
checks come from.

3. Come up with a marketing routine that keeps you motivated.
Talk to people you meet, network online, send out postcards, talk
to groups. Find what works best for you, then do it, do it, do
it long after anyone else would have given up. In business,
being stubborn is an asset.

The 10-30-60 Marketing Rule

People often want to know how much they should spend on
marketing. There is no standard answer, but we do have
some good rules of thumb we can use.

The 10-30-60 Marketing Rule says to spend 10 percent of
your ad budget on untargeted marketing. Your ads should
be aimed at everyone. The idea is to do a broad sweep
across the public to find a few people who will become
interested prospects.

Spend 30 percent of your budget on interested prospects.
This is targeted advertising to specific opt-in lists, postcards
to certain people in your industry, and mailings to people
who have called or emailed for more information.

Finally, spend 60 percent on current and previous
customers. People who have already bought from you are
by far the most likely to buy again.

One of the Net's biggest problems right now is there are so
many people who are jumping on that it is easy to forget to
market to our past customers.

Q: Kevin,

I want to start an affiliate program for my membership site which
pays in 5 tiers. I don't know how to generate new replicating
sites for members. Is it done by adding new pages for every
members manually? Or is it done automatically by software or
script? If by software, please suggest a good one for that.

I like to use E-gold for payment, which will be directly paid to
each member's account. Is there a software/script which will
transfer the payment datas to the new replicationg sites?

Also any free resources available for this?

You can spice up the look of a postcard by
putting a headline at the top followed by a line
in bold, then some bulleted benefits, and info on
how to buy at the bottom. Your copy probably
just needs a little formatting.
