Email Your Press Release--Get FREE Publicity From BIG Media

The media thrives on press releases. Over half of the news you
read in business publications comes from press releases sent to
them by businesses and organizations.

Media is more competitive than ever. TV stations, radio,
newspapers, and networks have all had to scale back and tighten
budgets. This means they rely more than ever on the good stories
YOU send them. A newsworthy press release can pull in lots of
FREE media coverage for your business.

Make sure your story is something the media audience will be
interested in. Editors hate getting a release that is really an
ad disguised as a release. For press release format, check out

Send your release to media via email. Almost everyone in media
uses email. There are several very good email release services
that have long lists of media contacts. Xpresspress.com is
well-known and does a nice job as does PRWeb.com. Keep in mind
most release services have the same media addresses.

You can get even lower rates from automatedpr.com where a minimum
order is just $50. We often use them when we need to send to a
very specialized list of media. If you send out lots of releases,
consider getting a list of media and sending them yourself.

Three Letter Autoresponder Follow-up

A woman told me this week, "Your advertising is wasted if
you don't follow-up on your leads." Her solution is to use a
multiple autoresponder that sends her prospects a new sales
message very few days.

People need to see your ad message several times before
they buy. Those who buy on the first ad have already made
up their mind after seeing someone else's ad. Yours had the
good fortune of reaching the customer at just the right time.

You can greatly increase sales with a three letter multiple
autoresponder. There are a number of places to get these
autoresponders free (fastfacts.net, getresponse.com,
smartbotpro.com) and others who sell up-graded service at
low cost.

Make your first letter briefly present your offer. It should
be designed to get attention and bring in those who tend to
quickly make up their minds to buy.

Your second sales letter should arrive the next day. Make it
longer and filled with details. About 70 percent of
consumers are folks who need ALL the details before they
will purchase. List your features and connect them with the
benefit your customer will get from those features.

Your third sales letter should be scheduled to arrive several
days later. Start with "Successful people are busy. I know
you probably saw my earlier messages, considered them, but
haven't yet had time to respond."

Then give them another rundown on your offer. Bring in a
fresh angle so it doesn't seem like they are reading the same
letter they saw a few days ago.

More than three sales letters tend to get ignored. If you
want to send more, have your fourth and fifth letters arrive
weeks or months later. Scheduling a new letter to arrive
every month can catch a prospect when they're ready to
buy.

posting to bulletin boards where people who would be interested
in your product read and post. Do you have recommendations for
how to find the right bulletin boards? I used to get a lot of
action from the AOL boards and from an MLM chat on AOL, but AOL
is totally dead now.

Any suggestions about how to find the right boards?, say for
nutritional products/mlm?

gods. People have so many challenges in life that they really
appreciate meeting someone who is positive and full of energy.

Your enthusiasm can fit your style. A soft, gentle enthusiasm
works as well as any other.

2. Try to help people. When you see an opportunity to help--
even a small one--jump right in. Nothing makes friends and
builds trust faster.

3. Ask questions and listen carefully. Everyone likes to talk
about themselves. And we like it even better if we're talking to
a good listener.

Make `Em Email You

I started my business out on the Internet with the emphasis
on email communication with customers and prospects.

Sure, I talked with a lot of customers on the phone,
especially in the early days of the Internet when a lot of
people didn't feel comfortable buying until they made phone
contact. But the vast majority of orders came after writing
back and forth with customers via email.

Recently we hired more staff and added a toll free number
prominently featured on every page of DrNunley.com.
Phone calls picked up, but email STILL far outstrips the
phone as the best way to get sales.

Here's why. The telephone is spoken communication.
When we talk our meaning doesn't go in a straight line. We
tend to talk in circles, going back over the important points
again and again (don't feel like I'm picking on you, the
entire world does this when they talk).

Writing is linear in its logic (as scientists say). When you
write, your ideas must march along one after another
without doubling back. This may not be the most
comfortable way to communicate, but writing makes people
organize their ideas and get to the point.

This very simple difference between talking and writing may
be at the root of why so many businesses find they make
their real sales from email and not from the telephone.

The World's Most Persuasive Words

Scientists have studied which words are the most persuasive.

safety
love

Notice how often you see professionally written ads that string
several of those words together: "You'll love how you save money
using our proven secrets to guarantee results."

Other words that work like magic are free, yes, and fast. Good
sales copy uses these words all the time. It's no wonder some
people have their sp^m filters set to weed them out. Still,
these words are so powerful I wouldn't let my ads be caught
without them.

Write Powerful Headlines for a Great First Impression

Headlines are the first, and often the most important part of
your web site, sales letter, classified ad, email, or business
card. And if your headline is a good one, the rest of your copy
is likely to be read.

How do you make sure your headline gets attention?

I like to start a headline with an action word (or verb if you
think back to high school English): EARN 20% more, TAKE time to
relax, LOSE weight fast, PROFIT right away. All of these start
with an action word that stresses an enabling change for the
reader.

Focus the rest of your headline on how your product or service
will make your customer FEEL. While most of us like to think we
make a purchase based on logic, studies show emotion plays a big
role: LOSE WEIGHT FAST and feel sexy again!

Customers feel good when your headline promises to remove
something that is bothering them or add something that will make
them feel wealthier, sexier, more relaxed, or loved.

Above all else, your headline must be clear. Using plain, easy-
to-read words will communicate your meaning best to customers in

Get A Great Theme--Then Don't Change It

Good marketing themes are one of those things that gets
better with age. A good theme can be used for decades,
gaining familiarity and power with each passing year.

"The loneliest repairman in town," "Less filling, tastes
great," and "You're in good hands" all immediately bring to
mind their owner's brand.

Make your marketing theme a single short sentence that
tells what you do and what main benefit you give
customers. I like to write two or three sentences, then take
a pen and start chopping phrases and words. Eventually
you can distill your thoughts into a natural flowing few
words.

Be careful that you don't use trendy words that could go
out of fashion in a few years. You also don't want to be
too limiting. For example, "Books at low prices" may not
work in a few years when your bookstore starts carrying
videos and CDs.

Use your theme on every piece of marketing: your web site,
business card, newspaper ads, ezine classifieds, even TV
commercials and invoices.

A Plan For Promoting an Affiliate Program

Affiliate programs are a great way to earn a little extra
money each month working the Internet. While some
people earn up to $1,000 or more per month, most who
work affiliate programs seriously land $200 to $700.

Here's a brief plan for making money with these programs:
1. Put a two or three line ad about the program in the
signature file of all your emails (that bit of info that goes
after your note). "Sig" files are a powerful way to include a
marketing message along with your personal
notes--probably the most effective marketing tool of all.

2. Get your own web site. It's hard to establish your own
identity and customer trust if you are sending people to a
generic site provided by the program.

3. Place free ads on sites where other people are pushing
affiliate programs. These are usually the same folks who
buy.

4. Place paid ads in ezines and on AOL (where a massive
55 million visitors roam).

Radio stations will often publish their ad rates, but frequently
those rates are their optimum highest rates. You can get their
"real" rates by emailing or calling the individual stations.
Radio and Records' web site lists stations in different markets
according to their ratings. That site is

on Google to find their web site and contact info.
