Earn Trust With Profiles

More often than not, when somebody says they aren't getting
sales from their website, the problem is trust. Visitors
to their site simply don't have enough trust to place an
order.
The Net is a big place, with over a billion websites.
Anyone can whip together some HTML and graphics and put up
a site that looks like an industry leader. Yet you can't
get a good look at the owner or shake hands with the
manager. You can't even eyeball the building and gander at
the cars in the employee parking lot.
It is important to build as much trust as you can with
visitors to your site. One great way to do this is by
providing profiles of the key people on your site.
Have an area where visitors can meet you, your staff, the
writers who contribute to your site, the experts who help
you, and anyone else who plays an important role in what
you do.
Tell a bit about the person: why they are qualified, what
awards or training they have achieved, good things other
people say about them, and a few human elements (listing a
hobby or two can make a person seem more real).
Discussion boards and chat rooms have used this technique
for years. It helps people who are new to the group become
comfortable with the key players. Discussion board
supervisors discovered putting up profiles got newbies to
settle in and start participating much faster.

Before you can write a great slogan, or a good website
title, or even a classified ad--you need great advertising
keywords.
These are the words that best describe your business, idea,
product, or service in an exciting, engaging way.
The soft drink I'm holding says "Enjoy coca-cola." Simple
as it seems, Coke has long known the wisdom of indelibly
connecting their brand name with the word enjoy.
Write down three, five, even ten words that describe what
you do or the good things about you. Ask your employees,
your customers, your co-workers to quickly come up with one
word, or a two-word phrase, that best describes your
organization.
Your keywords might be selection, fast, comfortable, time-
saver. Now combine those words into phrases and slogans.
"Feel comfortable with our fast, time-saving, selection"
might perfectly peg what customers value about you.

Enjoy Easy Sales With Visionaries

One of the first groups of customers to buy a new
product or service are visionaries. These are people
who immediately recognize a change that will give
them an advantage. They want to use the advantage
NOW, before everyone else gets on the bandwagon.
Visionaries generally don't worry too much about
details. They intuitively seem to know when
something new is for them. They want to hear your
emotional appeal, the sizzle in the steak, the
promise of great things to happen.
Many sites that paint a glorious picture of what your
life will be like when you buy their product or
service are going after visionaries.
It is an easy crowd to sell to. Visionaries tend to
find a good product, service, or idea even without
much advertising. Once visionaries find you, they
don't need a lot of time and details before they buy.
Visionaries want a quick idea of what you have to
sell them. Then they want to buy and get started as
soon as possible.
More often than not, when someone says their site
isn't selling, it is because they aren't hooking
visionaries. Sales pick up as soon as the website
owner includes a short, exciting description of the
benefits their product or service provides.

Getting Your POWER Classified Ad

Ever notice a classified ad that appears over and
over, week after week? It is somebody's Perfect
Classified Ad. It may not be a literary thing of
beauty, or even an ad that is very appealing--but for
some reason it gets sales for its owner.
Getting your Perfect Classified Ad will come easier
if you follow a simple plan.
Write your ad in complete sentences. Then cut out
non-essential words to make your ad the required
length. Start sentences with action words. Use
short phrases.
While you are at it, write several versions of your
classified ad. I usually try to knock out six at a
time.
Next, test your ads. Run them all on free ad sites,
in ezines, newspapers, or magazines. Be sure to
include a code in your response info so you will know
which ad produced the inquiry or sale.
Once you find an ad that works well, leave it alone.
Resist the temptation to tweak an ad that is already
successful.
Don't worry if you or your associates become bored
with the ad. Your audience is not as close to the ad
and is only assured by its repetition.

Publicity for Your Website

Newspapers and magazines are always looking for interesting and
unique websites to feature or mention in relation to other
topics. Wouldn't it be great if you could get them to write about
your site? Well, all you have to do is let them know WHY they
should write about your website.
The best way to do this is with a press release. But what should
you say in the release to make editors sit up and take notice?
Here are a few tips to help you get your website featured or
mentioned in newspapers and magazines:
*Write about something unique about your site; don’t just list
your products. What can you offer that editors will want their
readers to know about? Do you offer free downloads of software,
online games, articles, or news? Focus on something you have that
can’t be found on just any site.
*Write in a hierarchy of importance. Editors want to know right
away how your site will benefit their readers, so include the
most important benefits in the headline and the first paragraph
or two.
*Keep your information fresh and newsworthy. Tie in a press
release with your site launch, or the opening of a new section or
a new service. Editors want what’s new, so don’t give them last
year’s news.
*Editors like you to include quotes in your release. That way,
when they write an article, it seems like they interviewed you.
State your name and mention why you’re qualified to comment.

Keep Your Offer Simple

When things get complicated, customers bolt.
Have you ever been to a website that makes an offer, then
compounds it with stipulations, overwhelming you with complicated
wording and conditions? If so, you probably didn't stay there
long.
On the web, people are always a little more wary of the products
and offers. They can't see or touch them, so they have to rely on
the information you provide to judge whether or not they want
what you have to offer.
But things like complicated wording, too many instructions, too
many steps, etc. will all make potential customers suspicious.
They'll wonder what you're trying to hide in all those
unnecessary words and steps.
Or, those potential customers will simply tire of sorting through
all the instructions and stipulations associated with your offer.
After all, they can always find another site that won't require
them to decipher a code to get what they want.
Use simple wording, short sentences, and brief paragraphs to keep
the information you need to convey concise, easy-to-read, and
simple to understand. And if you offer a bonus, don't require
potential customers to jump through hoops to get it.
