Build Your E-Mail List With Free Goodies

by Kevin Nunley
http://DrNunley.com

Nothing will keep you going in lean times like your own house
email list. Nothing will help you turn good times into GREAT
profits like your own house email list.

Email is almost free to send. It's handy for people to open and
read. And people who willingly give you their email address are
VERY likely to value what you have to say.

Use freebies to get people to give you their email address. The
most common way is to over a free, info-packed newsletter. Folks
sign up, they get your newsletter, you keep their email address.

You can also do this with ebooks. Rather than giving people your
web site address where they can download the book, ask for the
person's email address. Then send them an email giving them a
special link where they can download the ebook. Make sure to
mention that you will be sending additional updates from time to
time, and how to unsubscribe if they don't want them.

Provide free access to your "private area." People have to enter
their name and email address to get inside. There, they find good
information or freebies they can't get on the public parts of
your site.

Free ebooks, coupons, reports, and ads can also work this way.
MAKE SURE people KNOW you are adding their name to your list and
give them a way to GET OFF your list easily.

5 Strategies for Selling Yourself

by Kevin Nunley
http://DrNunley.com

This is a constant debate. Should you sell your product or
yourself? Of course you should always sell the product. But, your
long term goal should be to sell yourself as well. Here's how to
start.

Be completely comfortable with who you are. Try to change
yourself too much and people will sense dishonesty.

You should have a marketing strategy, but also be willing to give
free advice and referrals. If you are building a long-term
enterprise, this will be invaluable as you open up relationships
with your customers.

Gain a reputation of being sincerely interested in your customers
BEFORE you start selling. Talk to them informally and make them
remember you were there.

If you have a web site, update it often and make sure there is
plenty of information. Invite people to refer to your web site
for details on your products and services.

Above all, make yourself interesting to others. If you sell
yourself as well as the product you will always have an eager
market.

Be Quiet and Listen!

by Kevin Nunley
http://DrNunley.com

It is ironic that in the field of sales most of us learn to speak
in order to gain commitment. Often, that is the worst thing a
sales professional can do. It is better to listen much more than
you talk.

Before you can listen, you need to learn how to ask a question.
Your questions should be open ended to start a conversation. In
other words, avoid questions that can be answered yes or no.

Think about what you will ask beforehand. Ask about competitors,
past purchases, and other important issues. You may want to make
a list of your questions and keep a copy with you.

Make sure you pause as you ask each question so you are clearly
understood. If you are confused by a reply, you might want to
paraphrase what was said so you are able to understand the issue
in your own words.

Selling demands much time and effort. However, by learning the
basic skills of listening and asking questions, you can become
very successful.

Closing a Sale

by Kevin Nunley
http://DrNunley.com

Closing a sale can sometimes be as easy as simply asking. Other
times, it can be much more difficult. When it is time to ask for
the order, here are 3 ways to make to close the sale.

Establish a deadline. Sometimes forcing a decision can be good.
Some customers are indecisive. Telling them your price or service
is only available for a certain amount of time could help you
close the deal. If not, at least you are free to move on to other
prospects.

Let the prospect know if you plan a price increase. If your
company plans to change their pricing, start calling people early
to get them to purchase before the increase occurs. Customers and
prospects will appreciate the notice.

Discuss the consequences of sitting on a sale. Have the prospect
consider what it would cost them not to purchase your product or
service.

Closing a sale can be easy if you work these tips into your
discussions as naturally as possible.

Paragraph At The Top Of Your Opening Web Page

by Kevin Nunley
http://DrNunley.com

What's the number one way web sites shoot themselves in the foot?
Everyday I get notes from nice people wanting me to take a look
at their web sites. The sites aren't selling, and they want to
know why.

More often than not, the graphics look great and the copy on the
inner pages is just fine. The killer mistake is there isn't much
copy at the top of the opening page.

Give your opening index.html page a headline and a paragraph or
two. They should tell people what you can do for them. This short
copy also does well to mention what kinds of customers you help.

For example, Jose's site sells a wide variety of sunglasses.
Summer is coming and Jose wants to increase his conversion of
visitors to buyers. He has lots of appealing product photos of
his best-selling sunglasses, but there isn't any copy to
introduce his site. It leaves new visitors guessing (and confused
first-timers usually click away within a couple of seconds).

Jose can solve the problem by putting a headline and paragraph at
the top of his page that reads like this:

DEEP SAVINGS ON THIS SUMMER'S COOLEST SHADES!

The sun is bright. It feels great! Protect your eyes and look
your best with our wide selection of designer sunglasses. All at
20% to 50% OFF! Get a pair to wear when you're dressed up for
work, another for a weekend at the beach, and one more pair for
Saturday night.

Signs That Sell!

by Kevin Nunley
http://DrNunley.com

Signs can have exceptional power in advertising. They do not need
to be large billboards in order to have a strong effect. Small
signs such as store signs, banners, signs on trees, and poster-
type signs, can all greatly impact your business. They make an
unconscious impression on your potential customer. Signs catch
the eye of those who are passing by and often result in sales.

There are a few important things to remember when making your
sign. Most successful signs use very few words, usually no more
than six. This will make it easier for your prospective customer
to remember your advertisement. Make sure that you have a good
headline. A few powerful words that you might want to include in
your headline could be "you", "now", "fast", or "proven".

Using some type of graphic on a sign is almost as important as
the wording in the overall effect. Graphics could include the
lettering, the colors, or the design of your sign.

Make sure your graphic compliments or helps explain your text.
For example, "Pies like Mother used to make" might have a graphic
of a women holding a steaming pie down for a young boy or girl to
see. This helps get the meaning and FEELING of your message
across to people who may be driving by your sign at high speed.

Put Your Offer Near The Beginning

by Kevin Nunley
http://DrNunley.com

Ever see a web site or email that you can tell is selling
something, but you have to read most of the letter to find out
what they're selling? If you read all the way to the end you are
one of the few. Most people lose interest after the first few
paragraphs.

Increase the effectiveness of your sales copy by putting your
offer near the beginning. Tell people what you are selling, why
they need it, and (in most cases) what it costs.

I know this flies in the face of what all the "get rich quick"
sites are doing, but you'll see this strategy used by every
other major industry.

Prospects should have a good general grasp of your offer by the
second or third paragraph.

This strategy not only works for sales letters but also for radio
and TV commercials, even for voice mail messages.

Feel free to take several pages to go through your entire offer.
Long sales copy can be very effective and certainly has its
place. Briefly outline your offer near the beginning, then come
back to it in more detail later on in the copy.

Letter to the Editor

by Kevin Nunley
http://DrNunley.com

Many newspapers, magazines, and industry publications print
letters from readers. Your Letter to the Editor can be a good way
to get exposure in a big publication.

Your letter will not get printed if it reads like an ad for your
business. Instead, use your letter to let lots of readers know
you are someone with inside information, or you have an
interesting view, or you have a solution for a problem.

A friend who has a weekly commentary feature on a local radio
station managed to get his letter printed in Newsweek.

You can bet that raised his standing in the eyes of local
listeners. You can get the same kind of benefit by sending a
letter to the main trade publication in your industry.

Your letter carries a better chance of being published if it is
about an issue that was recently covered by the publication.

Pat them on the back for a doing a good job reporting the story,
then add your comments (I've used this over and over. Editors
love it!).

Sometimes you can strike a chord with readers and many more will
send in letters either agreeing with you, disagreeing with you,
or furthering the argument. You can get mentioned over and over
in the publication, sometimes for weeks or months.

deals at http://DrNunley.com. From ezine advertising, to a press
release, to web copy that sells, get what you need fast.
