Help Customers Look

How many times have you approached a customer to ask ifyou could help only to have them wave you away with "Oh, I'mjust looking."
I guess there might have been a time when people whiledaway the hours browsing through stores with no particularpurchase in mind. But my hunch is those days are longgone for must of us. We're just too busy.
The vast majority of customers come in your store lookingfor something specific. They may say "oh just looking" as away to keep the sales person at a distance, to keep fromgetting pressured.
Offer to help the customer look. "We've got a lot of newthings to see," you might say. "Over here we have severalnew low-priced monitors with more realistic pictures. Andeveryone who comes in has to sit in that new chair. Wereyou looking for anything specific I could tell you moreabout?"
By now the customer is warmed up a bit and ready toaccept your assistance. You are on your way to a sale ANDa customer who will tell others about your helpful,personalized service.

Using Graphics to Promote

Many people concentrate so much on the headline or the copy thatthey forget another element of advertising that is just asimportant. Graphics! You might have a headline that stops peoplein their tracks or copy that makes them want your product. But,if your ad or TV marketing strategy isn't visually pleasing, thenyou've been wasting your time!
The purpose of a graphic is to create a desire for your productor service. How do you do this? First of all, avoid common,boring ideas when coming up with your graphic. Go out of your wayto be different and unusual, but don't forget your purpose!Remember that graphics can gain attention to your product orservice instantly.
Another major task is to have the graphic work with the headline,opening line, and copy. There should be a relationship betweenthe words and pictures in your advertising. In print advertising,the type is extremely important. Make sure that your type isreadable, not overdone, and keep it around 40 characters perline.
How do you come up with that winning graphic? Observe what'shappening around you. Read the newspaper, magazines, books, orwatch TV. You will be surprised what ideas come to you.

When you're first starting out and don't have satisfied customersto provide testimonials, try doing it this way. Get people youknow in your industry to say why they think your service will begood for customers. Keywords can be tricky. Sites often discover that people don'tsearch for them with the keywords they expected. Instead ofsearching for "sports equipment" they search for "footballsupplies." Rather than typing in "CPA" they type "bookkeepinghelp."
Think of all the different ways people describe what you do. Usethe same words and phrases you hear many of your customers use.

Simple Search Engine Advantage

A few months ago I would have said forget about the olddo-it-yourself methods of search engine marketing. Searchengines had gotten too sophisticated. It looked more andmore like you needed to hire experts to do the job.

* Put a colorful flyer in with invoices and sales letters.Highlight special deals only current and past customers can get.

Get a List of Club Members

Nothing gets sales like good targeted direct marketing.Targeting is the key. If you send your sales letter or postcardto only those people who are intensely interested in what yousell, you will have more customers than you know what to do with.
Here is an easy way to get super-targeted names. Contact clubsand associations who have members who would be very interested inwhat you sell. Show the leader of the club why his members wouldlove to hear about your business. You can often get a list ofmembers and addresses for cheap or free.
Anika designs and sews costumes for dance students. She has anattractive web site and can work with customers just aboutanywhere.
Using a search engine, Anika finds several associations of danceteachers and their students. Two are in her city, one covers herstate, and several more are national.
She first calls the presidents of the clubs in her city. Sheexplains over the phone how her service can benefit teachers,students, and their parents. She schedules an appointment tovisit with the club leader, show samples of her work, and leavesa brochure filled with enthusiastic comments from past customers.She will also leave with the club's mailing list.
Many national groups sell their member list at low cost. Onebusiness man I know does exceptionally well getting member listsfrom the local chamber of commerce in cities he wants to target.

You can get a freeautoresponder from http://sendfree.com Put your report on it,put the sign up box on your web page, and you'll get thevisitor's email address when they request the report via theautoresponder. Getting People To Click Your Links

Got a web site link that doesn't get clicked by enoughpeople? Here are several ways to immediately get morefolks to click.
1. Put the link nearer the top of your page. I've noticedover and over that the number of times a link gets clicked isdirectly related to how near the top of the page it is.
2. Link your headlines. I used to write a headline, then aparagraph, then put the link to the sales page at the end.Results zoomed when I made the headline the link.
3. Stick with old fashioned blue, underlined links. Linksthat aren't underlined and are different colors may lookbetter, but a lot of hurried prospects won't notice they arelinks. If the default florescent link blue color hurts youreyes, opt for a darker blue.
4. Above all, include an enticing description with your link.Tell people what is in it for them if they click.

Do some advertising locally (or wherever your clients are comingfrom) and stress how you're now under a new name. Give somepositive reasons why you changed your name. Usually it's up to the company that owns the trademark togo after anybody who they feel is using their trademark unfairly.You can search for registered trademarks at:http://www.uspto.gov/
Keep in mind most claimed trademarks are not registered. Youcan trademark a name just by putting tm next to it.
