Does Your Domain Name Say What You Think It Does?

It is always a treat when Internet veteran Chris Gunn<http://www.bizynet.com> drops by. After reading mycolumn on domain names, he pointed out how manydomains don't quite read the way the owner intended.
For example, PalaceOfArt.com is a proud moniker for itsFrench owner. What the owner didn't realize at first is thatmany Americans saw the domain in their browser aspalaceofart.com. Maybe if the owner registeredpalace-of-art he would be in the clear.
Now that longer domain names are more common, tryspelling yours out in all small letters to see the variouspermutations different customers see.
Chris also points out that many of the domain names thatappear to be taken are actually just reserved and will comeup for grabs again in 90 days. "You'll find this to be true ofa lot of the domain names being advertised for sale online,"he said.

"Why Aren't You Answering?"

Email is exploding. Now that over half of all North Americanssend email on a regular basis, just about everyone's email box isover-flowing.
If your prospect doesn't recognize your name or email address, oryour subject line doesn't sound interesting, your carefullycrafted email message can be deleted along with the morning spam.
Many of us also leave messages we want to respond to in the INfile of our email programs, hoping to get to them when we havetime. After a week or so we forget all about them.
One aggressive entrepreneur sends me his sales messages almostevery day. When he wrote a personal note to me, I mistook it forhis daily ad and didn't open it.
Here's the number one way to break through to email-swampedcustomers on your third send. Put their name and the words "Whyaren't you answering me?" in the subject line.
To keep your note from sounding hostile, make the body of youremail less impatient. "I know you're getting an avalanche ofemail and may have missed the note I sent last month. Here is myoriginal message below. Thanks for your time and I look forwardto hearing from you."
The "Why aren't you answering me?" subject line works every time.It can be just the solution when you absolutely must get yourmessage to its intended destination.

The key to getting local traffic to your site is to use the mainkeywords people use to search for a site like yours AND the nameof your community. Many people will search for "back pain" and"Los Angeles" (for example) to find help in their area. Put themain keywords and city name in your home page title and againseveral times in the home page copy.

Even though I have Internet sales, most of my business is throughmail order. I have a merchant account along with PayPal but manyof my customers pay by check. How To Write Sales Copy That PULLS
There is no great mystery about what works in sales letters(or autoresponder copy, web site copy, and brochureswhich are all written with the same techniques).
Start by showing your prospect that you know what herproblem is and you understand how much she suffers withit. Then let her know you have an easy, affordable solution.
Notice I said "easy." Americans, especially, love a quick,easy solution that takes little or no effort to apply.
Next give your prospects enough information to dispel theirdoubts and confusion about what you sell. This may mean afull page listing all your product's features and theBENEFITS they provide. It might mean 12 pages (some ofthe best sales letters are 12 pages long. The late Corey Rudl'sfamous sales letters seen on his websites were often 25 pageslong).
Anticipate the objections a prospect will present. Mentionthose objections, then answer them in your copy.
Tell prospects how they can take action NOW to purchaseyour product or service. Give them several ways to order.Make ordering convenient with fast delivery.

What Is Your Core Product?

Since you can't efficiently market EVERYTHING you sell,it is important to focus your advertising on your COREproduct, service, or idea.
This sounds simple enough. But in actual practice, manybusinesses don't realize what their core product is.
For a long time I though copy writing was my core product.It was the service almost all my customers wanted. But Iquickly learned it wasn't so much the writing customerswere coming for. They valued the free strategies and adviceI gave them.
In time I discovered I could get other writers to do thewriting, but customers complained if I wasn't there to offeradvice. My core product is advice, strategies, andknow-how.
Take a close look at your business. What is the one thingcustomers value above all else about you? Put that onething front and center in your marketing.

Search engines are a specialty area, but my guess is you'll dobetter with a bit more copy on the page. 200 words keeps the pageshort but gets the engines to take you more seriously.

In order to get tothe information on the affiliate site, people would need to puttheir name and email address in a form on your site. Should You Buy Radio Advertising Space?

Radio is an integral part of American culture, touching the livesof almost everyone, everyday. People can listen to the radiowhile doing almost anything, from driving to working, relaxing todoing homework.
Radio is also a relatively inexpensive way of reaching peoplewith advertising. You can negotiate rates for commercials, oreven barter. Stations are often looking for prizes they can giveaway to listeners, so you may be able to get a full commercialcredit for donating a prize or service.
Because radio is a personal advertising medium, stationpersonalities have a good rapport with their listeners. If aradio personality announces your commercial, or plugs yourproduct/service, it's like a personal endorsement from a friend.
If you decide to use radio advertising, here are a few things toremember:
*One of the most popular times to reach people is during DriveTimes (from 6 am. to 10 am. and 3 pm to 7 pm). It's called thatbecause most people are going to or from work during this period,and because most people listen to their radio when they drive.Unfortunately, radio stations know that this is a favorite timeto advertise, so commercial costs are much higher during thistime.
*Radio as a broadcasting medium can effectively sell an image,but it is not a detailed medium, and is a poor place for pricesand telephone numbers. But web addresses that are easy toremember are good to announce on the radio in place of phonenumbers, prices and addresses.
*Radio listeners increase in the spring and summer, contrary totelevision audiences, which increase in the fall and winter anddecrease in the summer. This is an important aspect to considerwhen you are choosing advertising media.
