Role Play to Increase Your Confidence

Being confident is probably the most important quality a
business person can have. The more confident you are, the more
sales you will close. Role-playing is an easy and
effective way to help salespeople build their confidence. It
gives salespeople the opportunity to learn new
information, test their selling skills, and try different
approaches.

Try splitting your role-playing session into two parts.
After the first session, have a brief discussion of what the
observers saw. Then do the same role-play again, then
discuss. Usually your second attempt will be much better.

Use a camcorder to record each role-play to dramatically
increase the effectiveness of your sessions. Often it is easier
to see both the mistakes that were made and what was done well
when you are watching it yourself. Later, you will have a
library of sessions you can go back on and see your
improvement.

Selling can be a difficult process. Customers judge you and
compare you to the competition. Many companies use sales
training to improve their odds, but no training program would be
complete without practice sessions.

I have been working for 2 years as a radio sales executive.
I just read your article ("How to Advertise Your Business Or
Website on Radio." I would like to ask your opinion about some
conditions in my country:

1. Why most advertising agencies spend (even plan) very small
budgets for radio promotion

2. Does this mean that radio is second or maybe third on the
priority list (After TV and Print Ads), and why (on your
opinion)?

3. Which one is better: the "Rambo" (blitz--no targeting) kind of
promotion or the "Sniper" (smaller, but focused & targeted) plan?

Good to hear from you. Agencies always put the most into
newspapers, then TV, then radio a distant third. It's been that
way from the dawn of time. There are some good reasons, but not
as good as most people would assume.

The "scattershot" approach of putting spots on every station in
town can be done for 3 reasons: the advertiser can
appeal to a great many different types of people, the agency can
get a bigger "buy" out of their client by placing with more
stations, the agency gets a better deal from today's multi-
station groups who say "buy all our stations - get a great
package," the agency didn't have the time to do the research to
better target their ad buy, or the client loves to hear
themselves on every station in town.

Actually, the last reason isn't a bad one. Get all over every
station in a market and you'll be perceived as huge. But as a
rule, the more you can target your ad buy, the better the
results.

BECOME A PIANO-PLAYING PRODIGY IN MERE HOURS

through the ups and downs of my students, I've discovered the
true keys to piano-playing and music-reading success. Here I've
broken down the basics of piano music reading into three easy-to-
understand areas: Note Reading, Rhythm and Harmony. Take
yourself through the steps, and once you can do these five
things, you're well on your way to becoming a pianist:

Here are some of things anybody who wants to read well can
focus on:

* Read all note names both visually on the keyboard as well as on
the music staff.

* Read basic note values and be able to count them in a 4/4 Time
Signature.

* Recognize intervals (distances between notes) of 2nds, 3rd,
4ths all the way through an octave.

* Understand rhythm patterns by reading basic note value
combinations.

* Understand what blocked and broken chords are and how to play
them.

These steps will help you become the pianist you've always wanted
to be. You'll soon be able to play beautiful classical melodies
like "Fur Elise", "Moonlight Sonata," and others. Your friends
and family will be amazed, and most of all, you'll have reached
your goal of playing the piano!

How to Present Your Story to Get Free Publicity

If you're anything like me, you've probably seen thousands of
stories on the news, or read about them in the paper, that made
you think, "Don't they have anything better to cover?"

The truth is, the media probably only covered those questionable
stories because someone suggested it to them. The question is, do
you have a better story for them? Because if you do, that could
mean tons of free publicity for you.

The trick to getting free media publicity is in the presentation.
Here are a few common angles to take on your pitch:

*New ideas and technologies - Do you offer a product or service
that makes peoples' lives easier or more convenient? Think of an
angle along the lines of convenience that came with credit card
gas pumps, email take-out, and convenience store/chain
restaurants.

*Follow-ups - If you see a news story or article about a product
or service similar to yours, call the reporter who did the story
and offer another angle or a follow-up. The first story could be
for people who want to learn more.

*Try Piggybacking - This means you put a fresh twist on something
already in the news. You can piggyback on news items, trends,
holidays, community events, any hot news item on which you can
supply a new angle--one that promotes you!

3% conversion is actually quite good for a web site. Your sitelooks good. You might put a bit more copy on the home pagetalking about what you can do for people. That would increaseconversion even more.
The Net generally gets much lower conversion than a brick andmortar store would. It's just too easy to people to click fromone to the other. The current skyrocketing gas prices have twosides for those of us doing biz online. On one hand people don'thave as much to spend on various things (it's all going for gas!)On the other hand, more people will shop online. Paying forshipping costs is less than driving around town to get the sameitem or service.

How About 100 Miles Per Gallon? Why You Should Consider AnInexpensive Scooter

As a singer/songwriter, recording artist, and independent recordcompany owner, I'm always looking for ways to keep costs undercontrol. Lately, with gas prices bouncing up over $3 per gallonand even above $5 in some areas, I knew I had to do somethingsignificant -- and fast!
The answer was selling my BMW M Coupe and spending more timegettingaround town on an inexpensive scooter. Scooters can get 100miles per gallon and mine does no less. My total gas bill for anentire week is just $3.
Think about it. Would you rather spend $70 to $140 on gas eachweek, or a paltry three bucks? It's a no-brainer.
"But how will I LOOK on a scooter?" you exclaim. "Will peoplelaugh at me?" Maybe. "Won't I get run over by all the largervehicles on the road?"
Those questions nagged away in the back of my mind when I firststarted commuting on a scooter. But I soon discovered a LOT ofother people were thinking just like me. Within a few daysseveral of us had formed a local scooter club so we could allmeet up and ride together.
If gas prices stay high -- and oil industry experts say that'sexactly what is going to happen -- we could see a hugetransformation in the way the American public gets from one placeto another. Watch for trucks, SUV's, and vans to spend more timeparked in the driveway while small cars, motorcycles, scooters,and bicycles take over more of the daily driving.
My dream is we may see our streets start to look more like thoseof Europe, where perennially lofty petrol prices have made thescooter a staple of transportation. Nobody worries about gettingrun over by a large SUV because they're all driving scooters (andsaving $400 or $500 per month!).
Above all, my advice to you would be to consider ways you can getaround without spending a fortune on gas. Get a scooter, walkmore often, consolidate your errands so you make fewer trips, andcarpool. You'll do yourself, your community, the environment,and your nation a big service.
