The Internet has a wealth of great information. It's all there
free for the taking IF you've got enough time to search for it.
With the average work week reaching toward 60 hours, very few of
us have the luxury of spending the day picking through search
engines and directories. We appreciate it greatly when others do
the work for us and tell us which good sites to see.

If you have found web sites that are useful to people in your
business--share them. Make a list of your favorite sites along
with a short explanation of what each offers and why it is
special. Put your contact and ad info at the bottom of the list.
Lists of hand-picked web sites are one of the most valuable gifts
you can give a client, prospect, or customer. They make great
marketing.

How to Promote an Opportunity on the Internet--When the Company

Quite a few major companies don't allow Internet advertising.
Some have had bad experiences with associates sending out
unsolicited email and getting them into trouble. Others are
simply afraid of the power of the Internet.

There is an easy way to get around this, and most companies
quietly approve of this method.

1. Advertise your opportunity in a "blind" ad that touts the main
benefits without mentioning the name of the company. Readers
don't mind if you don't provide ALL the details in a classified
ad. Normally you can spill the beans and offer complete
information on a web site or in an email.

2. Offer a free report via autoresponder. There are lots of good
services for free. Try SendFree.com. This is one of the most
effective ways to remind prospects to buy.

3. Keep in mind that even if you can't mention the name of the
company, not all is lost. Customers care most about the benefits
your product or service provides. Spend lots of time showing
prospects how your product or service will improve their lives.
Let them know they can contact you personally for deep details.

Super Charge Sales Copy With Bold, Underline, and a P.S.

People often ask me to improve their sales copy. Some are
surprised when I tell them there's nothing really wrong with
their copy, it just needs re-formatting to spice it up and make
its message clearer.

In most cases, I tell them to add bold, underline, and use a P.S.
Here's why these simple additions can bring sales letters to
life.

Most people read in a big hurry and don't take time to put all
the emphasis in the right places. They may skip over the most
exciting, crucial part of your offer. You can dramatically point
out the benefits and features that will really sell the deal by
using bold and underline. I alternate the two using bold in some
places, underlining a word or phrase in other places.

Use bold and underline so a reader can skim down your page and
pick up the most important points. Often you can do the same
thing with red font or a yellow highlight behind your words.

Also include a P.S. Why? Studies show 60% of people reading
printed copy read a P.S. before they read the rest of the letter.
While this doesn't work nearly as well for web copy, a P.S. is
still a good idea. Use your P.S. to re-state your offer.

Include a contact number, email address, or web site url.

Don't be afraid to enthusiastically hype your offer. Enthusiasm
sells big these days.

Market to People Surfing At Work

In the early days of the World Wide Web, almost all activity took
place at night. In fact, the Web didn't really heat up until
after the nightly TV news had gone to bed.

Now the noon hour is one of the Net's busiest times. Most people
who surf the Web each week say they do a lot of surfing while at
work. Many offices have faster lines than available at home.

Try adjusting your web site a bit so it will appeal to people at
work. Keep in mind what the at-work visitor is looking for. They
want convenience and speed. Many people surfing at work are
trying to squeeze it in during lunch, on a break, while the boss
isn't looking, or on someone else's computer. Sites that feature
a music track that suddenly blares can be a nuisance to an office
worker surfing on the sly.

Many people will place an order or request information using
their office email, but will need you to reply to their private
email address. Include a place on your online order forms for a
personal email address and an office address (much like asking
for phone numbers for work and home).

Get Powerful Cheap Commercials by Staying Ahead of the Ratings
Game

Radio and TV commercials are price according to the ratings. High
ratings mean lots of viewers and listeners and high priced spot
rates to go with them. Makes sense, right?

Interestingly, this isn't a perfect world. Media ratings have
lots of flaws. You can get extra value if you know about some of
these problems (don't expect your ad exec to tell you--most don't
understand it themselves).

Ratings are notoriously inaccurate. People in the audience can't
remember what station they listened to, what timed they turned
the radio off, or if they caught that TV show at the beginning or
half-way through. Yet, that is what detailed ratings claim to
know. High advertising rates are often based on a handy fiction.

Keep in mind that it may take months or even years for ratings
surveys to show a particular station or show is popular. By
keeping your ear to the ground, you can figure out which media
programs are popular with growing audiences long before ratings
reflect that. In the meantime, advertising rates stay low.

Talk to media employees about what stations and programs they
think are getting big audiences. Ask other merchants what media
buys work for them. Trust your own instincts if you find a low-
rated program is getting you big results.
